Injection Molding Process Engineer

JOB SUMMARY
Develops injection-molding process parameters by utilizing Design of Experiment (DOE), decoupled-scientific molding on both present and future injection molds. Participates in design for manufacturability (DFM), Design Failure Modes & Effect Analysis (DFMEA) and Process Failure Modes & Effect Analysis (PFMEA) as well as continuous improvement (Kaizen) projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Performs DOE window studies (utilizing resin manufacturer’s specifications) to establishing robust, reliable, and repeatable injection molding processes.
* Trouble shoots existing processing parameters
* Creates molding standards (cycle time, drying requirements, auxiliary equipment, etc.)
* Creates process and set-up work instructions (including parts and equipment list for setting up an injection mold)
* Participates heavily in the tool development stage and manages the release to manufacturing
* Participates in DFM, DFMEA, PFMEA, and Kaizen projects
* Audits set-up sheets vs. actual machine settings.
* Trains Process Technicians

* Researches alternate and cost effective resin materials
* Researches and recommends new injection molding technology (drying, cooling, material handling, etc.)

EXERIENCE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
* 5 years experience working with processes in a plastic injection molding manufacturing environment.
* One year experience developing injection molding processes utilizing decoupled-scientific molding, (DOE) design of experiment
* Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of associates and management.
* Proficient computer knowledge.
* Must have the ability to train Process Technicians.
* Good organizational and project management abilities.
* Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing.
* Ability and willingness to work hands-on with the Process Technicians in the molding department
* Ability to manage multiple projects, use good judgment in difficult situations
* Self starter with high level of initiative and possess the ability to make decisions in order to maintain progress on projects
* Strong communication skills: verbal and written. Spanish is a plus!

EDUCATION /MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

High School Diploma or Equivalent, Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred

Formula Process Engineer

As a Formula Process Engineer you would work with both the Development and Production Teams  on new product scale up to ensure all parameters needed to ensure success in meeting our customer’s expectations, while focusing on quality and safety. You will also be responsible for working with the teams on improving current formula yield and process to allow for maximum efficiency and quality.

Successful candidates will have worked in the color cosmetics industry or other similar industries and have experience in: root cause analysis, formulation; color matching; stability, compatibility and weight loss testing; recording results and reformulating to ensure quality results; researching and qualifying new raw materials; problem solving; creating processes, SOPs and standard works.

Quality Technicians

CNC Machinist

The Machinist/Machine Builder is responsible for producing machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating computer numerical control (CNC) machines. Some machining using manual equipment (lather, mills, grinders, etc. may also be required. This individual will also be required to maintain quality and safety standards, keep records and maintain equipment and supplies.  The Machinist is also responsible for the manufacture of assembly machines, fixtures and spare parts.

Apprentice Process Technicians

JOB SUMMARY: 
To gain a comprehensive understanding of all aspects of the Process Tech function within Spatz Laboratories. The apprentice will have interaction across all areas of the molding department and will help be responsible for directing the daily activities of the molding area to ensure outstanding quality and adherence to schedule.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for understanding all aspects of the Process Tech role within Spatz Laboratories. (Specific coaching will be provided throughout the program to ensure both understanding and competence).
Under direct supervision of a Spatz Process Tech:
o Perform mold set-ups
o Accurately record production and scrap
o Utilize hand gauges and scales to ensure molded components meet quality specifications
o Accurately document any issues with the tools, equipment, material or processes
o Completes assigned machine and tool PMs

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
* Ability to operate cranes, hoists and slings
* Flexibility (must be able to work different shifts and schedules as needed)
* Demonstrate competent hand skills
*Effectively manage and resolve problems

Apprentice Maintenance Mechanic

JOB SUMMARY

*Under direct supervision of a Spatz mechanic:
*Service and maintain machines on a daily basis
*Document all discrepancies, maintenance performed, incomplete maintenance and all after-maintenance requirements.
*Maintain a safe and clean work environment
*Adhere to all Company Policies and Procedures
*Ensure the utilization of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as gloves, safety glasses, etc. when appropriate
*Increase knowledge of assembly machine function and manufactured parts and products, through liaison with supervisor and production department

Maintenance Mechanic

To ensure all machines within Spatz Laboratories are fully functioning at all times through troubleshooting and preventative maintenance.  The maintenance mechanic will have interaction across all areas of maintenance and will assist in ensuring that all maintenance is carried out in compliance with appropriate managers, maintenance manuals and manufacturing specifications.

Future Opportunities

Compounders

Our compounders are key to the success of our production formulas. As part of the compounidng team you will be responsible for manufacturing formulas for eyeliners, lip liners, eye shadows and more that meet quality control specifications according to formulas within the prescribed time frame.

As a compounder you will receive formulas, weigh raw materials by phase and transfer to mills, kettles, etc. You will mix and mill raw material ingredients according to manufacturing instructions. The successful candidate will need to be able to follow set directions and note unique characteristics  in formulation process and evaluate unusaul reactions. Must be committed to safety, quality our customers and lean manufacturing.   High School Diploma or GED Required.

Color Lab Technicians

The Lab Technician is part of the Spatz Development team that is responsible for formulating new products and modification of existing base formulas.  They will work as a mentor for batch and fill team members. They will work cross functionally with other Spatz team members to ensure innovation, quality and our ability to meet the customer’s needs, while continually looking for new and innovative ways to improve.

Color Formulators

The Formulator/Chemist is a part of our R&D team that is responsible for formulating new products and modification of existing base formulas.  They will function as a technical resource for lab techs and batch and fill technicians. They will work cross functionally with other Spatz team members to ensure quality and our ability to meet customer needs, with the end goal of increasing color match and formulation capabilities and developing innovative products.
